His interest in pursuing a career in real estate is personified in the Preamble to the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Realtors, which reads:
Under all is the land. Upon its wise utilization and widely allocated ownership depend the survival and growth of free institutions and of our civilization. REALTOR’S should recognize that the interest of the nation and its citizens require the highest and best use of the land and the widest distribution of land ownership.
From Athletic Fields to the many Fields of Commercial/Investment Real Estate is the path taken by Dick in his life time. Review of his experiences on the athletic field one finds him a member of a team that won three (3) Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championships and a Cotton Bowl victory for Duke University, of Durham, North Carolina. 1960 – 62
In the field of real estate, his experiences include several years in residential construction, a Broker in a residential firm and President of his own real estate company. He earned the designations of Graduate Realtor’s Institute (GRI) and the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and Historic Property Specialist which reflect his desire to be the best in the “Field” of Commercial Real Estate.
Between the time he spent on the fields of athletics and real estate there where three and a half (3 1/2) years on the military field, as a Captain in the United States Air Force, with duty served in Southeast Asia. (SEA)
His objective in the above mentioned fields was his desire to provide unparalleled efforts in achieving success.
The common thread between the “fields” is the passion, teamwork, knowledge and compassion that the player, officer or broker brings to the field or table.
PASSION – the love of being involved in the participation of something worth while and basically good for all people. The word “work” is not appropriate because an act of passion is not work.

TEAMWORK – working with others in the process of achieving a win- win solution to a problem or the successful closing of a transaction.
